Small class sizes allow for a detailed education that meets the needs of each individual student.
The School of International Studies is one of the smallest departments at Kanazawa University, with approximately 80 students per year. Most classes have from 10 to 20 students, and seminars usually consist of between 5 to 15 participants. The small class size is a major attraction of the School of International Studies.

You can change or make changes to any academic program that interests you!
This is a “transitional elective” system. After studying the basics of a field of interest in the first year, students register for multiple programs in the second year, select a main major program and seminars in the third year, and then graduate upon completion of research thesis in the fourth year. In the third year, students can also choose a minor program in addition to the main major program, thus broadening the scope of their studies.

Providing an education that develops practical skills which will be useful to you in a globalizing society
English language skills are necessary in order to reach your full potential and to be actively involved in a global society. Some courses allow students to learn about various aspects of international society in English, this strengthening both their specialized knowledge of a field of interest as well as their language skills. Students from various countries from around the world can participate together in “joint classes,” giving them the experience of studying at a foreign university while living in Japan.
Our programs are structured to enable more flexible, diverse learning while maintaining the existing educational policies and strengths of the School of International Studies.
